Innovative Isealate Patch Achieves First-Ever Patch-Thru-Patch Success
A tubing retrievable safety valve (TRSV) at 1,200 ft was obstructing access to a leak in the 3-½” tubing at 6,750 ft. Leveraging the ultra-slim Isealate Springblade Patch, Isealate and Welltec developed a unique solution that allowed for a successful patch-thru-patch deployment without removing previous repairs.

Through careful collaboration between Welltec and the client, the intervention was carried out via standard e-line, using the Isealate Patch as a hold-open sleeve in the TRSV, enabling access for additional repairs further downhole. This achievement marks the first-ever patch-thru-patch run, offering a faster, more cost-effective solution for operators.

Successful Remediation of Tubing Connection Leak in Alaska
We are excited to highlight the successful remediation of a tubing connection leak at 5,000 ft using the Isealate Springblade Patch. This intervention on a gas-lift oil producer well in Alaska restored production to optimal levels with minimal impact on the tubing ID.
Key Achievements:
-
Minimal effect on tubing ID: Only 0.282" (7 mm) reduction
-
Optimized recovery: Production reinstated to peak levels
-
Pressure tested: Held steady at 172 bar with no pressure loss

Through meticulous planning and the deployment of advanced technology, the critical leak was resolved while maintaining well integrity. The pressure test and successful reduction of only 7 mm to the tubing ID ensured smooth production and full client satisfaction.

Effective Leak Remediation with Minimal 4 mm ID Reduction
We are proud to announce the successful first-ever application of the Isealate Springblade Patch, marking a significant milestone in well remediation. This innovative solution was deployed for a European onshore gas producer to address a shallow leak in 3-½” tubing, restoring well integrity with minimal impact on tubing ID.

Key Achievements:
-
Minimal effect on tubing ID: Only 4.62 mm reduction
-
Rapid remediation: Full production restored within 24 hours
-
Client satisfaction: 100%

In this case, Welltec®’s groundbreaking Isealate Springblade Patch provided a fast and efficient solution, ensuring production could resume in just one day, while maintaining the structural integrity of the tubing with only a minor ID reduction. A successful drift run and pressure test confirmed the effectiveness of the patch, resulting in complete client satisfaction.

Isealate enters into agreement with Shell
We are proud to announce that Isealate and Shell have agreed to enter a new phase of the research agreement for the deployment of the Isealate patch. This agreement aims at developing and testing the Springblade Patch for running through 3.5” tubing and setting inside pipes between 4 ½” to 7”, opening up a new market for expandable steel patches. This agreement validates the successes of earlier phase developments with Shell.
